During their meeting on March 9, the Tidewater EMS Council Board of Directors approved a new regional EMS performance improvement plan which changes the council’s overall PI committee structure and sets new PI goals. The new plan, recommended by PI stakeholders in the region, elevates the committee so that it reports directly to the Board of Directors.

On March 9, 2017 the Tidewater Emergency Medical Services Council Board of Directors held biennial elections for all directors, officers and executive committee members. While many incumbents were reelected, four new directors join the board effective April 1.
Stewart W. Martin, MD was re-elected board president. Dr. Martin, representing the city of Virginia Beach, has served on the TEMS board since 1993 including ten terms as president. Martin is board certified in emergency medicine and hyperbaric and undersea medicine. He also serves as medical director for the Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services and all of its volunteer rescue squads.
Sentara Nightingale has flown more than 20,000 accident-free missions since its first flight on February 25, 1982. A flying ICU, Nightingale’s flight nurses and paramedics provide hospital-grade care while speeding critically ill and injured patients to the Level I trauma and tertiary referral center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Kent “Curly” Jules Weber passed away February 24, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Amelia Weber and survived by his son, Gregg Weber (Kathy), granddaughter Megan Duke (Cory), great-grand-daughter Addison, brother Don Weber (Pat), Grace Maskell (Rich) and numerous nieces and nephews.

January 27, 2017 - Today the Tidewater Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council announced immediate availability of the regional EMS protocol training videos, enabling EMS providers and agencies to begin the rollout process of the 12th edition of the regional protocols. The protocols and training videos are available 24/7 at www.tidewaterems.org/protocols.
