Palmer, Anderson Retire from Board
David
Palmer, TEMS board member representing the City of Norfolk and
Assistant Chief for Norfolk Fire Rescue resigned from the TEMS board
of directors and retired from the City of Norfolk in April. Palmer has
relocated to Ocala, Florida to assume leadership of the Emergency
Medical Services Alliance, the EMS agency serving Marion County. He
has been active with the Tidewater regional EMS system since the late
1970's as educator and leader. In recent years, Palmer led efforts to
plan for regional response to terrorist attacks through formation of
the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System and he also
helped charter the first Disaster Medical Assistance Team in Virginia.
Palmer was also chair of the Virginia Emergency Medical Services
Advisory Board. He served on the TEMS board for eight years and
received a plaque from the board during a dinner in April hosted by
Kent J. Weber.
Darleen
Anderson also resigned from the TEMS board due to a job change.
Anderson was formerly an administrator at Sentara Norfolk General
Hospital and Sentara Leigh Hospital and she represented the Tidewater
Council of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association on the
TEMS board. In early 2004, Anderson transferred to serve as head of
Sentara's health insurance program and she resigned from the board to
ensure than an active hospital administrator would continue to
represent hospital interests. She served on the TEMS board for twelve
years. Board president Stewart W. Martin presented Anderson with a
plaque of appreciation during the board meeting on April 29.
