Minitor III Product Bulletin from Motorola... http://www.motorola.com

WHY WE ARE NOT SUPPLYING (NEW) MINITOR III PRODUCT AT THIS TIME

Assuring the quality and reliability of Motorola products is an integral part of our commitment to serving our customers. While our production testing of Minitor III indicated that the product performs as expected, reports of problems with units currently in the field have prompted us to take steps to make absolutely certain that the new Minitor III units leaving our factory meet the quality standards you expect from Motorola. Until we are satisfied that our manufacturing and testing techniques ensure the highest level of quality, we have decided to momentarily suspend shipments of new Minitor III units.

THE PERFORMANCE OF EARLIER MINITOR III PRODUCTS

Since the introduction of Minitor III, Motorola had collected field data and listened to your inputs. To date we have taken your feedback and implemented many generic improvements that have been phased in over time. Among the changes we have implemented on current units as a result are:

Furthermore, there are some issues we are still investigating that are unique to certain systems and those are listed below:

A FUTURE UPGRADE PLAN

We want to insure that all units in the field have the above five generic improvements incorporated so that we may provide you with the best performing product to date. as such, depending on the model you have, you may be notified within the next few weeks of an upgrade program whereby you can return units eligible for these upgrades and Motorola will modify with the latest improvements free of charge. We are presently working on the logistics of this program and we will notify you when these plans are in place.

AN IMPORTANT WORD ABOUT THE MINITOR III UL RATING

While Minitor III is listed by Underwriter Laboratories (UL), it is NOT RATED Intrinsically Safe for use in hazardous environments. Minitor III is listed only for use in Class I, Division II locations where hazardous conditions are only present in the case of a mechanical breakdown, accidental failure or abnormal operation of the equipment.

IN CLOSING...

We realize many of the issues mentioned above do not depict the high standard of quality that you have come to expect of Motorola products. We assume full responsibility to make things right for you, or valued customer. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to work as partners through this and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
