TEMS Welcomes New Field Coordinator
We are also pleased to announce the employment of John R. Cooke as Regional Field Coordinator for the Tidewater EMS Council.
As Regional Field Coordinator John will manage the drug and IV box system, provide lead staff support for regional mass casualty preparedness, coordinate protocol revisions and distribution, serve as regional administrator for EMSystem software, and coordinate regional review of EMS grants. He will also assist with staffing of the EMS Medical Operations Committee and Operational Medical Directors Committee.
John was formerly a full time medic/firefighter for Northrup Grumman Newport News, and he continues in a part time role as instructor for Network Medical Systems in Chesapeake and as a volunteer for the Phoebus Volunteer Rescue Squad in Hampton. John has a Bachelor of Science degree from Lees-McRae College and is a nationally registered Paramedic. John and his family reside in Newport News.

With this announcement, we bid goodbye to Matt Smithson who has served as Regional Field Coordinator since September 2002. Matt is starting his own business in Virginia Beach, and we wish him much success.
