Tidewater EMS Council

Tidewater EMS Council staff was notified about missing keys to the drug and IV box exchange room located just outside of the ER entrance in the ambulance bays. The keys were missing for a week and were found on the side of the road about 3 miles from the hospital. The keys were possibly placed on the bumper of a unit and fell off as the unit went back into service. Here is an excerpt of a letter that was send to us to be passed on to ALL providers of the region. Please take the time to read the following:

"The Sentara Pharmacy keys for the drug boxes maintained in the SNGH ED disappeared last week for several days.  They have reappeared and I am grateful.  The pharmacy and I have met to discuss the process and we have concerns about liability and responsibility for the current process of replacing lost keys.  Here is what we decided:

If the keys disappear again, the satellite site in the SNGH ED for the drug boxes will go away.  EMS providers from all agencies will have to return to the second floor pharmacy to switch out their boxes.  This is an EMS provider issue, not an ED staff issue and I cannot make a process time intensive for the ED to correct the problem.
We appreciate your feedback and assistance and we want to keep the positive relationship we have established with Tidewater EMS."

Sincerely,
Rusty
