Board Elections Held, Retirees Recognized
During the annual meeting on January 30, 2003 the Tidewater EMS Council Board of Directors conducted elections for all directors, officers and chairs. Laura Walker chaired the nominating committee, assisted by David Palmer, Richard Childress and Bruce Edwards. New directors assume office on March 1. The term of office is two years, ending February 28, 2005.
New directors include Lewis Seigel, MD representing emergency physicians, Robert Grizzard representing Southampton County, Joe Pozzo representing Portsmouth, Terry Bolton representing Franklin, Maryann Fitchett representing Accomack County and Lynn Flowers, MD representing the Navy. Outgoing directors were recognized during the annual meeting. James M. Wagenbach served for 28 years on the board an in various committee leadership roles. The Council's annual EMS Instructor Award was renamed in his honor. Scott R. Chandler was honored for serving nearly 25 years on the board. He also served as president of the Eastern Shore EMS Council for some 22 years. Lori Givonetti, MD, was recognized for four years of service. Paul Kea and Adam Saperston, MD were both recognized for two years of service. Each retiring director received an engraved plaque or framed certificate.
Council officers were all re-elected. They include Stewart Martin, MD, President; Robert "Rusty" Hundley, Vice President; and Kent Weber, Treasurer.
Committee chairs elected include Darleen Anderson, EMS Promotions and Recognition; Dan Fermil, Resource; Richard Childress, Leadership and Management; Bruce Edwards, Education, Training and Certification; Stewart Martin, MD, Operational Medical Directors; and Laura Walker, Patient Care. The committee chairs and officers form the council's Executive Committee, chaired by the council president.
