Board Elects Officers, Directors and Committee Chairs
The annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Tidewater EMS Council was held on February 1, 2001 in Chesapeake. Stewart W. Martin, MD of Virginia Beach was re-elected president. Martin is an emergency physician and medical director for the eleven volunteer rescue squads in Virginia Beach. Robert W. Hundley of Suffolk was re-elected vice-president and Kent J. Weber of Virginia Beach was re-elected as treasurer.
Five new directors join the TEMS board. Elected are Adam Saperston representing the Navy's Tidewater EMS program, Hollye Carpenter, representing Northampton County, Sandra Deane, MD, representing the Eastern Virginia Medical School, Paul Kea, representing Southampton County, and Emory McCoy, representing the City of Norfolk.
Committee chairs elected are Darleen Anderson (Community Service, Marketing and Promotions), Bruce Edwards (Education, Training and Certification), Dan Fermil (Resource), Stewart W. Martin, MD (Operational Medical Directors), David Palmer (Patient Care), and Jim Wagenbach (Leadership and Management).
Retiring from the TEMS board are Cindy Caison, Jeff Riblet, MD and Bill Gentry. Two other directors, Donald Haupt and Stephen Burgher, left the region several months ago. The board recognized retiring directors with engraved plaques and welcomed its new directors with acclamation.
The term of office is March 1, 2001 through February 28, 2003. Current board list.
