Four from Region Receive State EMS Awards

Stewart W. Martin, MD of Virginia Beach received the Governor's Award for Excellence in EMS during the 2001 Virginia EMS Symposium in Norfolk on November 12. Recognized for his 19 years of exceptional service at the local, state and national level, his active EMS involvement includes field provider, physician, medical director, instructor, EMS council president and state EMS advisory board member.

Genemarie W. McGee, RN (Sentara Norfolk General) -- Nurse with Outstanding Contribution to EMS Award.

Robert W. Hundley (Nansemond-Suffolk VRS) -- Outstanding EMS Administrator Award.

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital -- Outstanding Contribution to EMS.

Jenkins, Jr.; Outstanding prehospital instructor, Janet Carbaugh; RN Outstanding prehospital provider, William H. Thompson, Jr.; Outstanding operational medical director, D. Scott Haynes, MD; Outstanding EMS call, Goochland Co. Fire-Rescue; Outstanding EMS agency, Tuckahoe.

Congratulations to all of the award recipients!! Great job, Tidewater, for receiving four of the ten awards and especially Dr. Martin for earning the state's top EMS honor.
