The Tidewater EMS Council Board of Directors elected several new directors and filled key vacancies during its quarterly meeting on December 8, 2016. Wayne E. Shank was elected treasurer, W. Travis Kirby and Dennis J. Keane were elected to the board, and Janice E. McKay and Jeffrey J. Meyer were elected to the executive committee.
Wayne E. Shank was elected treasurer to complete the unexpired term of Kent J. Weber, board member since 1995 and treasurer, who tendered his resignation due to illness. Weber was also the first executive director of the TEMS Council, holding that position from 1974 to 1986. Weber’s board seat, one of five representing the city of Virginia Beach, remains open pending elections in March 2017.
W. Travis Kirby, PA-C, was elected to fill the unexpired term of Terri W. Babineau, MD, representing the Eastern Virginia Medical School. Babineau resigned due to a relocation to study at Oxford in the UK. Kirby is an assistant professor in the EVMS Masters of Physician Assistant program.
Earlier this year T. J. McAndrews resigned from the board due to a change in employment that took him out of the region. He represented the region’s special operations teams. Elected to fill his unexpired term was Dennis J. Keane, a district chief with the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
Two at-large seats on the board’s executive committee were previously vacated due to resignations of John Hoffler and Bruce Edwards. Directors elected to fill those two positions were Janice E. McKay and Jeffrey J. Meyer.
These were interim elections to fill vacancies through the current term which ends March 31, 2017. The board will hold regular elections for all seats during its meeting on March 9, 2017.
